Let us begin.

About the Skin

The skin is the largest living, breathing organ of the body. It acts as an interface between the internal and external environments.

Consisting of the epidermis, dermis and the hypodermis. The major functions of the skin are:

1. Protection. The skin serves as a barrier that prevents microorganisms and other substances from entering the body.

2. Body Temperature Regulation. Considerable heat is lost through the skin. Even under conditions of high temperature or exercise, the body temperature remains almost normal.

3. Excretion. The evaporation of perspiration acts to cool the skin. In addition, small amounts of waste product and salt leave the body through sweat.

4. Sensation. Nerve endings in the skin provide the body with a great deal of information about the outside environment.

5. Vitamin D Production. In the presence of sunlight or ultraviolet radiation, a substance in the skin is altered to produce vitamin D3, necessary for the absorption of calcium and phosphate from food.

The epidermis is the surface layer, the layer that we see. It serves us as the protective layer.

The dermis is the middle layer that contains the glands and the connective tissues. This layer helps complete the absorption process by carrying whatever is placed on the epidermis to the deepest part of the skin and throughout the body.

The hypodermis contains the adipose tissues or fat layer. This is the layer that contains your fat cells.

There are several therapies combined in the body wrap process. I will outline and explain these therapies to show you the development of an effective body wrap. You will have a clear understanding of how the body wraps work and why it is a permanent treatment for inch loss.

Thasso-therapy

Thasso-therapy is a therapy that is used by the Greeks and Romans for healing that consists of using seaweeds to heal and benefit the body. They soak in sea baths, drink sea vegetable teas, massage and wrap in sea vegetation.

These therapies were and still are very popular because of the benefits the sea greens provide.

Seaweeds purify and balance the ocean and do the same for the human body. They can help:

  • Release toxins in the body
  • Add vital nutrients and minerals such as potassium and iodine
  • Improve circulation
  • Speed weight loss and cellulite control
  • Even to ease aches and pains

There are thousands of species of seaweeds all over the world. Here is a list of the most commonly used seaweeds and there healing properties. You can find these at your local health food store or supermarket.

Arame is a rich source of iodine. It has been used to promote wrinkle-free skin and for healthy hair.

Bladderwrack is rich in vitamin K – a wonderful adrenal stimulant. Native Americans use it in steam baths for arthritis, gout and other ailments.

Dulse, a red sea vegetable that is rich in iron, protein, and vitamin A.

Hijiki, has the most calcium of any sea green and is mineral and protein-rich.

Irish moss (chondrus crispus, carrageen) is full of electrolyte minerals - calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium. Its mucilaginous compounds help you detoxify, boost metabolism and strengthen hair, skin and nails.

Kelp contains vitamins A, B, E, D and K, is a main source of vitamin C, and rich in minerals. It contains sodium alginate (algin), an element that helps remove radioactive particles and heavy metals from the body. Kelp works as a blood purifier, relieves arthritis stiffness, and promotes adrenal, pituitary and thyroid health. Kelp's natural iodine can normalize thyroid-related disorders like overweight and lymph system congestion.

Kombu (horsetail kelp) has abundant iodine, carotenes, B, C, D and E vitamins, minerals like calcium, magnesium, potassium, silica, iron and zinc, and the powerful skin healing nutrient germanium. Kombu is meaty, high-protein seaweed. It is higher in natural mineral salts than most other seaweeds.

Sea Palm grows only on the Pacific Coast of North America. It is high in a variety of rich vitamins and minerals.

Wakame is high-protein, high calcium seaweed, with carotenes, iron and vitamin C that is widely used for hair growth and luster, and for skin tone.

Other Nutritional Therapies

Clay Masks have been used because of their drawing and absorbing properties. They have been used to draw out impurities, soften, tone, and deeply cleanse the skin. Here are some effective clays that are used in the formula.

Bentonite is one of my favorites because of its exceptional drawing properties. Cosmetic companies have used it in facial mask products for years.

Green Clay is also widely used by cosmetic companies for facial or body mud. Also has excellent drawing and toning properties and is a rich source of minerals.

Sea Salt or Mineral Salt is a rich source of minerals and iodine. It is used in bath salt as a base and helps draw out toxins and impurities. It also has some of the same benefits that seaweeds have.

Aloe Vera has been used for centuries and is even mentioned in the Bible for its healing properties. Aloe is cleansing, soothing, and healing to the skin. It also increases the absorption of other ingredients in any formula.

Spirulina* contains an impressive array of vitamins and minerals, including the essential B-12, the energy vitamin. This wonder food contains 8 essential amino acids (plus 10 of the 12 non-essential amino acids), fatty acids (including the heart-healthy GLA), digestive enzymes, the pigments chlorophyll, porphyrin and phycocyanin--beneficial to the liver, high amounts of protein, and minerals such as potassium, calcium, zinc, magnesium, manganese, selenium, iron, phosphorus. This blue-green algae is easily assimilated by the body. In addition to containing amino acids, it is also a great source of SOD (superoxide dismutase), which is an enzyme that is a great free radical scavenger and a fat metabolizer.

* You can benefit from this ingredient by adding 2-3 TBS to the wrapping formula.

Wrapping Instructions

The wrapping process is easy, however to do a full body wrap, you may need a friend to assist you in covering all areas. For spot wrapping, like your stomach or legs and thighs, you can accomplish this alone.

To start, use a tape measure to measure the areas you are going to wrap so that you can see the inch loss. Make sure the wrapping mixture is wet and easy to spread. Spread an even portion over the area to be wrapped. If you are doing a full body wrap, you should cover one area at a time or the process can be quite messy.

Make sure wrap clothes are hot when wrapping the area of the body. The cloths should be wrapped firmly but not so tight that it cuts off your circulation. They should also overlap when wrapping and starting a new area of your body. Attach the wrapping cloth clips securely to cloth when you reach the end of the cloth.

When all wrapping cloths are securely on, cover your body with a long robe, large towels, or a blanket to keep you warm. Lay down in a relaxing position for a minimum of 45 minutes up to 1 hour. While you are relaxing you will feel the cloths actually become looser as you are loosing inches.

Unwrapping should be done in the bathroom so that the cloths can be rinsed out and you can rinse off. Wash the cloths in a fragrance free liquid soap or borax. You should rinse your body off in lukewarm water only. Also, for the following three days, showers should be taken in lukewarm water only.

Avoid high fat foods, salt, and sugar for the next three days.

Again, measure the wrapped areas to compare your measurements before the wrap. Apply your post-wrap oil.

Enhance your Results

You can enhance the results you achieve by following the guidelines below.

1. Dry Brush Massage – One of the best ways to cleanse the skin without removing the protective mantle of acid and oils. To remove dead skin cells and to prepare the skin for the wrap, use a dry brush to slough off dry dead skin. This treatment removes dead skin cells, stimulates the sweat glands and opens up the pores. Brush the skin in a circular motion and always brush towards the heart. This is one of the simplest treatments you can give yourself with great benefits. The Kloss Family outlines the many benefits of the dry brush massage in “Back to Eden”. You can purchase a dry brush in the health food store or drug store. Make sure you use a soft bristled brush. Dry brushing on a daily basis will improve circulation and combat cellulite.

2. Hydrate – Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water a day. Water helps flush out toxins and keeps your organs working properly as I stated earlier in your program.

3. Seaweed Bath – A day or two before your body wrap take a hot seaweed bath. Whole leaves should be used and can be obtained from health food or some grocery stores. Soak the seaweeds in hot water you can either pour the entire mixture in your bath or strain it and add Sea Salt. This bath has some of the same benefits as the wrap. You may take these once a week for detoxification. Also use one of the supplements mentioned in tip #5 to increase absorption. Sit in the tub for 45 minutes and maintain temperature by allowing water to constantly drip in the tub.

4. Steam or Heat – If you have access to a sauna, relax in there for up to 20 minutes of your wrap to help keep the pores open. You can also use your bathroom by turning the hot water on in the shower and sink to get your bathroom steamed up. You may also use a sauna suit to help keep the body warm and keep the pores open.

5. Supplement – Two great supplements that increase circulation are Ginger and Cayenne Pepper. Take 2 of one of these 20 minutes before your body wrap. They stimulate circulation, open the pores and increase the absorption of the body wrap solution. As an extra benefit you can also add the extract of either one or both to your wrap mixture. Use about 10-12 drops. Another great supplement that can be taken internally is Green Tea. In addition to being a great Antioxidant, it is also a natural stimulant with no harmful side effects. You may take it in a capsule form or as a tea.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the body wrap work?

It works with a combination of compression and detoxification through the skin.

Are the results permanent?

Yes, your fat cells shrink as a result. To gain those inches back, you must eat the foods that were responsible for making your fat cells FAT in the first place!

How often can I perform the wrap?

As often as you like! I recommend that you wait at least 3 days before you apply your next wrap The solution is still in your skin for a couple of days after your wrap so it is still actively detoxify and burning fat.

Can I wrap my problem area only, like my stomach or thighs?

Yes, however I recommend that you do a full wrap to start. Your results will be even better for the problem area.

How many wraps will it take to achieve my goals?

That is up to you. Generally speaking a program of 6-12 wraps are sufficient for most people to reach their goal. Then to maintain results, you can apply the wrap once or twice a month.

I didn’t achieve any inch loss during my first couple of wraps. What happened? Did I do something wrong?

In some cases the loss of inches is not immediately noticed after the wrap. There are a couple of reasons for this: if you have any medical problems like diabetes, heart disease, or thyroid problems. These medical conditions affect circulation and circulation is key in getting the ingredients worked in and working in the body. Sometimes it takes as many as 3 or 4 wraps to see the substantial inch loss that can be achieved. Or you will see the inch loss after a day or two of wrapping, so measure for three days after your wrap too. Also make sure you follow the instructions. If you have any questions please email me at

info@tbfinc.com

How can I keep a consistent hot temperature during the wrap?

Some spas use cellophane to wrap over the solution. The wrapping cloths are then placed over the cellophane formula to help hold the heat in and keep the pores open. Also you can use a heating pad on the wrapped area.

How do I reheat the wrapping formula?

Place your zip-loc bag or jar in a sink of hot water and allow it to sit for about 7 minutes. Shake or stir it up. Then refill sink with fresh hot water and let the formula sit for 10 minutes. This should make it warm to the touch.

That's It!

You are on your way to a new YOU!
