The first thing some people think of concerning weight loss is to cut
back on the amount of food they eat. What most people don’t realize is
how intelligent our bodies are. Below are some weight loss tips to help you understand a little more about
how the body works when it comes to weight loss.
Weight Loss Tips, #1
If you are on a low
calorie diet your body will eventually compensate to this by slowly saving energy, and it
takes a lot of energy to burn fat - lose weight. In plain English your body will work at a
slower pace, and the outcome is usually fatigue and a weakened immune system which
eventually leads to sickness. Out of all the weight loss tips on this page
read the next line very carefully.
Once your body fully compensates to a low
calorie diet you will further have to decrease your food intake to keep losing weight, and
worst of all, most of the weight you will lose is muscle and water. If you are like most
you will eventually go back to your regular lifestyle of eating and gain all your weight
back and probably then some. However, most of the weight you will gain back will be all
fat! The outcome is you end up with less muscle and more body fat than when you first
started the diet making your body look far more overweight because of the lack of muscle
your body now has. One pound of fat is larger in volume than one pound of muscle. Meaning,
losing muscle will of course change scale weight but overall size will not diminish much
when compared to losing fat and only fat. The key to shrinking in size is to lose only
body-fat!
Weight Loss Tips, #2
Classified as the body’s
primary source of energy with protein and fats to be next in line. Some will
argue the fact, but this has been proven through many tests over and over
again. We get carbohydrates from foods such as fruits and vegetables, some
dairy products, and the worse being, cakes, candy, ice cream, etc. Let us explain
these weight loss tips in detail.
Carbohydrates are the cleanest and
easiest burned fuel by the body, therefore the body reverts to this as it's primary source
of energy. If none are available due to strict dieting or eating low or no carbohydrates,
then the body will have to revert to other sources for energy. For example, a person, man
or woman that weighs 200 pounds, if most of that weight is body-fat, then eliminating
carbohydrates will cause the body to use mostly fat for energy since this is the next most
readily available source. The downfall to this type of diet is eating all protein and high
fat without the proper intake of carbohydrates over a prolonged period of time will cause
the body to go into a state of ketosis. When your body is in this state not only will you
have no energy due to the lack of eating the proper carbohydrates, your body may revert to
muscle proteins for energy resulting in a loss of not only body fat but also muscle
tissue as stated in weight loss tips #1. When losing weight, only fat should be lost!
On the other hand if you take
the
same person who weighs 200 pounds and their body is made up of more muscle than fat, then
the body will use more muscle for energy. Carbohydrates hydrate the body, this is good
since the body is made up of approximately 65%-70% water. A lot of people
who are looking for weight loss tips may not like to exercise so this next
line is for you.
Low or no carbohydrate type diets
are normally prescribed by doctors for people who refuse or are unable to exercise.
Unfortunately without exercise the body will not only rid itself of fat, but since you are
not using your muscles it will rid itself of that also! Statistics show that eventually
most people quit diets that they follow on their own and revert back to their previous lifestyle of
eating, and when this happens you will have less muscle than when you first started. Since
muscle burns a tremendous amount of calories compared to fat and because you now have
less, you will gain all your weight back and then some, however the weight you gain back
will be all fat as outlined in weight loss tips #1. Now you have less muscle, more body fat and a lower metabolism which is
the perfect combination to keep getting fatter and fatter! Sounds harsh?
It's true!
