This low-fat, high-fiber
Cabbage Soup Diet promises a loss of up to 10 pounds in one week.
However, it
is not suitable for long-term weight loss. The recipe for the namesake cabbage soup includes a
variety of vegetables as well as cabbage. Although the Cabbage Soup Diet
provides a good kick-start to more moderate diets, some people find
the soup bland and report feeling light-headed and weak.
The major problem with the Cabbage Soup diet is that it's just way too
hard to maintain for most people even for one single day. You don't
get very much food, and the food you do get is limited to certain
types. The diet also isn't even close to being balanced or healthy and
it's costly. However, the worst part of the diet isn't any of those
things.
The Cabbage Soup Diet is
fairly rigid: On day one, followers can eat all of the fruit they want
-- except bananas -- and soup. The second day, dieters are allowed
fresh, raw or cooked vegetables along with soup and a baked potato
with butter, but no fruit. On day three you get all the fruit,
vegetables, and soup that you want (still no bananas, peas, corn, or
baked potatoes.) On day four you can have up to 8 bananas and as many
glasses of skim milk as you want along with your soup. On day five you
can eat up to twenty ounces of beef and up to six tomatoes, along with
your soup. On day six you can eat as much beef and vegetables as you
want (while still keeping in mind your restrictions from earlier) and
soup. On day seven you can eat brown rice, plain fruit juices,
vegetables and your soup.
On every day
of the diet you are supposed to make sure you feel stuffed by filling
up with the chosen food or cabbage soup. The Cabbage Soup diet can
only be followed for seven days at a time, after that you must take a
two week break before you try the diet again.
Losing weight in such a fast way doesn’t mean that the body is burning
fat, but it consume water and thinner the muscles. This is a temporary
method of losing weight, results for long term can not be expected.
The recipes for cabbage soup include a lot of vegetables, and of
course, cabbage. You can eat as much cabbage soup you want per day. In
the first day you also can eat fruits and vegetables, except bananas.
Personally I feel the
cabbage soup diet is not a good diet to follow since once the diet is
stopped all the weight lost will come back on. The key to success is
choosing a diet plan that you can stick with for the rest of your life
otherwise you will be very disappointed. So many people follow
so-called quick fix diets hoping they will lead to extreme weight loss
in a short amount of time but unfortunately people trying these types
of diets fall into the category of the yo-yo dieting syndrome. Nothing
beats healthy eating and moderate exercise for long term weight loss
and improved health. I can design you a program based on your needs
and goals so you can achieve your goals safely.
